Float up to FIRST, Come down Flying!
The first time I visited Switzerland was back in 2011, since then I have had many opportunities thanks to SWISStours, to visit the land of The Alps, Watches, Cheeses and Chocolates. However, what I best recall is my visit to Grindelwald First back in October. This was the highlight of my trip. So, I made my way to this quaint and absolutely drop dead gorgeous town of Grindelwald, from Interlaken where I was staying at an apartment. Then you make your way from the train station through the beautiful town to the base station of Grindelwald First. You start to make your way up to the top of the mountain through a series of cable cars. The views you get while going up in the gondolas are quite nice, but the view from up top is simply staggering. As you stand on top of the many viewing decks, you simply cannot fathom the scenery that lay in front of you. The massive façade of the Jungfraujoch, the Eiger and the Mönch creates an unbelievable panorama and is an excellent photo-op. After you have taken your fair share of pictures, you should go try the Cliff walk, which is not for the faint hearted. This free activity is a walk around the Cliff façade of the First mountain suspended high up the mountains with shear drops into the valley. One can take advantage of this excellent vantage point overlooking the mountains to get some very nice pictures of the scenery from the safety of the steel cable bridge. The Cliff walk ends at a terrace that shoots out into the void, with a glass floor which make an excellent selfie point with views straight down into the valley. After you have had your fair share of selfies you can then make your way to the Zip Line, which was one of my favorites. The First Flyer ques are long so getting up early to beat the rush would not be a bad idea. Just the thrill of doing an 800 meter, 84Kmph, 50-meter-high zip line is worth the wait. After that you can take the gondola back up to the top of the mountain and grab a meal or a quick bite. I decided sit on the sun deck and order my meal to soak in the views before I decided to head back down for a Trottie bike ride though the valley down to the base station. The ride through the winding roads is real fun for all ages and is something that everyone should consider if they enjoy cycling. Unfortunately, for me I zipped down to the base station so quickly that never got a chance to enjoy the magnificent views. My tip would be to enjoy the ride at your own pace and not make the ride a race, which unfortunately was the case for me. Never the less this was an absolutely amazing experience, something that I will not forget in the near future. I would recommend this for ALL!
