Things to do

Since 1893, the open wood coaches have been calmly travelling from Stans to the Kalti. Take a nostalgic trip on the funicular railway to reach to the mid station of Kalti

It is a truly amazing feeling to stand up on the roof of the double-deck panorama cabin and experience up close the passage between the supporting masts, just enjoying the headwind and the magnificent view – without any cables overhead.

Sit back and treat yourself to some culinary delights enjoying the magnificent view of the alps

From June to October, the Stanserhorn cable car will run continuously on Thursdays from 8.15 am to 11 pm. The warm kitchen is also open until 8.30 pm. The culinary offer is sophisticated and promises informal and enjoyable evenings. Let the magic of the Alps be conjured up on your plate! (Reservation compulsory)

Indulge in a romantic mood and enjoy a special candlelight dinner in the revolving restaurant. Opens at 6.00 pm for dinner under the stars, on most Fridays and Saturdays from May to October. Reservation recommended

They will be happy to show you where the eagle flies in circles, where the most beautiful flowers grow and tell you fascinating anecdotes from the history of the Stanserhorn

Whether it’s a 30-minute circular summit trail to a 4-hour hike from Stans to the top of the Stanserhorn, there’s something for everyone. Beautiful views of the Stans valley floor, Lake Lucerne, Engelberg valley and Obwalden can be enjoyed on the way up. A 100 kilometer Alpine chain, 10 Swiss lakes and 200 different alpine flowers are on display at the summit.

The enclosure between the mountain station and the summit is home to the Stanserhorn marmots, some of whom were born up here, and all continue to build their dwellings in the summer so that they can hibernate in their padded cave during the winter months.

Start by enjoying the trip on the CabriO cableway up to Mt Stanserhorn and take off on a tandem flight back to Stans. You will fly with an experienced pilot over a unique panorama of lakes and mountains.

Take a view of the Stanserhorn from the outside - The official paragliding launch site is located on Rinderalp, east of the restaurant, and is a 20-minute walk away.

Take home with you, as a souvenir or as a gift for yourself from the attractive range of products available on the Stanserhorn.
