About Sunnegga

A must – do while in Zermatt, is the excursion to the charming Sunnegga Paradise. Offering stunning views of the Matterhorn, the Sunnega Paradise is an ideal family getaway all through the year. If you are a holder of the Swiss Travel Pass, you will be entitled to purchase tickets at nearly half the rate. And to top it off, children under 16 years of age whose parents hold the Swiss Travel Pass will travel absolutely Free!

The Swiss Pass discount is valid on all the types of Swiss Travel Pass, i.e. 1st or 2nd class for 3, 4, 8, or 15 days pass.

Getting to the Sunnegga paradise is really convenient. The Sunnegga-Rothorn valley station is a comfortable 10 minute walk away from Zermatt train station. Just hop on to the funicular that takes you to the top in under 5 minutes.

Things to do at Sunnegga

A perfect spot in the most scenic setting, this park offers summer and winter fun for all ages. Come summer, you can have a refreshing dip in the lake, cross the lake on a secured raft and spend the day at its various picnic and barbeque spots.

In winter, this is the ideal place for beginners of all ages to try their hand at skiing.

Bikes can be rented from the Sunnega-Rothorn valley station. This activity is suitable for both young and old. Once you have the helmets on its time to decend down 821 metres of pure fun. The brakes in your bike help you control the speed. You will cross beautiful wooden houses and pine forests on the way. This activity is recommended for kids over 9 years of age.

Marmot's playground just a few minutes’ walk from Sunnegga promises an unforgettable experience for the whole family with a theme trail reveals fascinating facts about these charming mammals, which live in burrows high in the Alps.

In summer, families adore coming up to the crystal-clear waters of the Leisee. This is the top spot for an outdoor swim in Zermatt, complete with children’s playground and barbecue areas. Children love playing on the big raft and splashing around in the water – while adults relax and enjoy the glorious view of the Matterhorn.

A fun adventure playground, with beach and barbecue areas awaits, families by the sparkling Leisee lake. The park has slides, climbing frames, swings and more than 8 different play features.

In winter, skiers and snowboarders continue on the gondolas, chairlifts and finally the cable car up to the Rothorn. This is the gateway for adventures on the sunny pistes of the whole Rothorn area

On the summit grab a bite on the terrace of the self-service restaurant to enjoy the sunshine and the superb views of the Matterhorn.
